The reported suicide of a woman Wipro executive who allegedly killed her two-year-old son, has turned into a double murder case after police investigations revealed that the woman had an affair with a man, who murdered the woman and her son.

Vijayapura police have arrested Hemath Kumar M (28), a private company employee and a resident of Shidlaghatta town in Chikkaballapur in connection with the case. Shravani T (26) and her 2-year-old son, Sai Manas, was found dead at their home on November 19. Shravani was working as an executive with the IT major Wipro for the past six months while her husband Rajesh worked as a school teacher at a private school in Chikkaballapur, the police said.

Soon after the incident, based on the complaint filed by Shravani’s father, Thirumalappa, the Vijayapura police filed a complaint of murder and unnatural death after conducting preliminary inquiries. Shravani’s body on postmortem showed ligature marks on the neck. The police suspect she was strangled using a towel.

A detailed probe into Shravani’s call records led the police to Hemanth Kumar who was then picked up for questioning. During the interrogation, Hemanth confessed to the crime. He told the police that he was having an affair with Shravani, and he had forced Shravani to abandon her husband. When she refused, he fought with her and murdered both the mother and the child.
