A total of 23 school teams from across the country were declared winners, while 43 shortlisted entries were selected by an independent jury. The winning teams showcased a strong understanding of biodiversity, waste management, and water conservation through a combination of activity-based learning programmes and written essays.

More than 100 schools were recognised for their outstanding efforts by Wipro Earthian’s regional non-governmental organisation (NGO) partners.

According to a press release, the annual programme is designed to foster integrated sustainability education and honour Indian schools and colleges that actively promote sustainable practices and thinking.

The 2024 edition received over 1,500 project submissions.

This year, the Wipro Sustainability Educators Network (SEN) and 22 sustainability educators from Wipro’s NGO partners engaged with local communities and students through initiatives such as winter and summer schools, nature camps, library sessions, and the Goa Bird Atlas. The SEN aims to facilitate grassroots-level engagement, enabling students to gain local and contextual insights into sustainability-related issues.

Anurag Behar, CEO of the Azim Premji Foundation, and Narayan PS, Global Head of Sustainability and Social Initiatives at Wipro Limited and Managing Trustee of the Wipro Foundation, felicitated the winning teams with certificates and cash prizes.

In addition, the teams participated in collaborative programmes with Wipro’s sustainability partners, gaining deeper insights into critical sustainability challenges.
