Bengaluru: A woman allegedly assaulted a BMTC bus driver following an accident near Sumanahalli Bridge in Bengaluru on Saturday around 2:20 pm.

The bus, operated by driver Ambarish and conductor Yogesh, was running on route 248/3 from Jalahalli Cross to K R Market when it rear-ended a scooter. The scooter, ridden by Savitha, a resident of Kamakshipalya, also had two children as pillion passengers. The collision caused Savitha to lose her balance and fall.

In a fit of rage, Savitha confronted the EV bus driver and allegedly assaulted him. She summoned local residents and family members to the scene, leading to further altercations.

The incident was reported to Kamakshipalya Police Station, and BMTC has lodged a complaint. The electric vehicle is retained at the police station for investigation. Ambarish received medical attention at a local hospital. BMTC officials and the Sarathy Squad staff attended the scene, and both the driver and conductor are safe.
