According to the complaint filed by Venkatlakshmamma (55), wife of a retired police inspector Kalaiah and a resident of Annapurneshwari Layout, the incident occurred while she was returning in a cab.
She had come to Chinnasandra to find an accommodation for her daughter and was waiting for a bus to get back home. When she could not get a bus, she boarded a maxi cab. Near Konnankunte cross, all other passengers got down except the three suspects. The driver then raised the volume of the music and the others gagged her. They snatched her belongings and pushed her out.
