Bengaluru: A woman auto driver and her caretaker have been arrested for breaking into a house in southern Bengaluru’s Bommanahalli and stealing valuables worth Rs 11 lakh, the police said.
The police identified the suspect as Shabreen Taj, 32, and her accomplice Nilofer, 20, both residents of DJ Halli. Shabreen is a history-sheeter in the DJ Halli police station, while Nilofer owns an auto.
“Nilofer was destitute, so Shabreen took her home and raised her. She raised two more destitute children so they could work as her partners in crime,” a police officer who investigated the case said.
On March 17, Nilofer set out in her auto and marked homes that were either locked or located in slightly less populated areas. She zeroed in on one such house in Garvebhavi Palya near Bommanahalli.
“They broke the door lock, ransacked the house and fled with 130 grams of gold and
Rs 3 lakh in cash,” the officer said. While reviewing CCTV cameras, police found Shabreen was roaming in her auto and identified her.
