Bengaluru: A woman techie who hit an autorickshaw driver in eastern Bengaluru recently issued an unconditional apology on Monday.

Pankhuri Mishra, 28, from Bihar, who works for an IT company in the city, said that she was pregnant and what followed after the altercation wasn’t intentional.

"I apologise. There is no hatred for Kannada people. We love Bengaluru and the culture here. We respect autorickshaw drivers and cab drivers,” Pankhuri said.

Pankhuri and her husband also touched the feet of the driver and his family as a sign of respect.

The incident occurred on May 30 between 3 pm and 4 pm near Centro Mall, Bellandur.

Lokesh, 33, the auto driver, told the police that the woman and her husband, who were on a two-wheeler, had alleged that his vehicle brushed against theirs. An altercation followed and she assaulted and abused him. Based on his complaint, the police filed an FIR.

The woman was also seen hitting him with chappals as he continued to record the video. The incident sparked outrage on social media as the video went viral. Now, even the video where she is seen apologising was shared widely on social media.
