The FIR registered by the police on Monday named Aishwarya Gowda, her husband Harish K N and actor Dharmendra B. The case was registered following a complaint by Vanitha S Aithal.

According to the FIR, Vanitha, who ran Vaarahi World of Gold in Chandra Layout, knew Aishwarya and Harish, a resident of RR Nagar. Aishwarya allegedly told Vanitha that she was Suresh’s younger sister and knew many politicians.

“She told me that she was a big businesswoman and that she would give me a lot of business,” Aithal claimed as per the FIR. “This is how she gained my friendship. In past instances, she borrowed some jewellery from my shop and returned the cash in a few days. This led me to believe her and lend her the jewellery.”

Vanitha claimed that between October 12, 2023, and January 1, 2024, Aishwarya and Harish borrowed 14.660 kg of gold from her. She further alleged that neither the borrowed gold nor its equivalent of Rs 8.41 crore was returned.

According to the FIR, Harish once called the “former MP Suresh” on the phone, who sought more time to return the gold. Vanitha agreed. The FIR noted that Vanitha later found it was Dharmendra who had claimed to be Suresh on the phone.

Vanitha claimed that whenever she sought the gold, she was abused and threatened. Dharmendra also issued Vanitha death threats, she told the police.

The case was registered under IPC sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 120B (criminal conspiracy), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
