Imagine walking into different rooms in a house, only to be greeted by the rarest of furniture and decor from across the world. ‘Golden Star’ Ganesh and wife Shilpa have done everything to make one feel the world is in their new house.
Shilpa has been working on this for a couple of years now. She has travelled across to countries such as Hong Kong, China, Dubai and Indonesia just to pick the rarest of furniture and other such items to deck up their mansion which is being constructed en route Mysore Road. As Shilpa gets ready to celebrate her birthday on July 12, what’s uppermost on her mind is their house and what more she can do to translate their dream house into a reality.
Metrolife got a peek into what plans Shilpa has for her birthday and also what she has planned for the new house.
Shilpa recollects that when she and Ganesh got married in 2009, they moved into a plush apartment and everybody would rave about the way she had done up the interiors.
“Everything from the curtains and wall colour to furniture was coordinated. The place looked dressed up. So, I told Ganesh that when we build our own home, we should research, take our time and do it up to our liking,” says Shilpa.
Living in Ganesh’s new house would be like living abroad. “Every room in the house will have a theme and character of its own. The master bedroom, for instance, will be done up in a Bali theme. For this, we have bought tropical furniture, especially from Indonesia.
The furniture in the living room and dinning area have been sourced from Hong Kong. My daughter’s room will have a tree house,” reveals Shilpa. The kitchen is furnished German style and is complete with every conceivable gadget to make work easier.
The master bedroom opens out to a swimming pool which is temperature-controlled. “The swimming pool is temperature- controlled. One is hesitant to step into a pool during cold weather but here you can regulate the temperature, according to the changing weather conditions,” she reasons.
There’s also a full-fledged theatre on the third floor of the house, “We can watch the movies that release on a Friday. If I don’t want to go to the theatre, I could host a couple of our friends for a Friday release at home,” she adds. The house will be completed in two months.
