Yasin Bhatkal sent to Central Prison

Mohammed Ahmed Sidibapa alias Yasin Bhatkal, the alleged co-founder of Indian Mujahideen, was remanded in judicial custody till February 10 by a local court here on Monday. He was shifted to the Central Prison at Parappana Agrahara in the evening.

Bhatkal was to remain in the custody of Bangalore police till Tuesday in connection with the M Chinnaswamy Stadium blasts.

Bangalore police had secured his custody from the NIA’s Special Court in Delhi.

‘Further custody needed’

A senior officer said that the City police needed more time to interrogate the suspect. Besides, they had to conduct the identification parade. Accordingly, they would urge the Delhi court on Tuesday, seeking an extension in Bhatkal’s police custody.
