Bengaluru: Light rains/thundershowers with gusty winds travelling at 40-50 kmph are likely to occur at isolated places in various parts of the state in the next week.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 18 districts on Monday.
An upper air cyclonic circulation is present over the central parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh and surrounding areas, at 0.9 km above mean sea level. As a result, rain is expected to continue in several parts of the state, the department said.
A yellow alert has been issued for Raichur, Koppal, Gadag, Dharwad, Haveri, Davangere, Shivamogga, Chitradurga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Ramanagar, Bengaluru Urban, Tumakuru and Kolar. Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds is likely in some of these districts on Monday, according to the warning.
On Tuesday as well, a yellow alert has been declared for 15 districts, including Bengaluru Urban, with rain expected in most of South Interior Karnataka.
Light to moderate rainfall is likely in parts of most districts in the coastal and North Interior Karnataka over the coming week. However, dry weather is expected in Kalaburagi, Yadgir and Bidar, the IMD added.
In the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 am on Sunday, Bengaluru city recorded 4.3 mm of rainfall and HAL airport 2.6 mm. Doddaballapura received 6.5 mm.
