Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Thursday directed the state government to submit a report regarding the stampede incident at the Chinnaswamy Stadium during the victory celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, in which 11 people died and around 40 were injured.
A division bench headed by Acting Chief Justice V Kameshwar Rao gave this direction while taking suo motu cognisance of the incident.
Advocate GR Mohan submitted to the court about a security breach at the high court premises, which he claimed to have communicated to the registry through email. He said certain fans got access to the high court terrace to take a glance at the RCB players being facilitated at the Vidhana Saudha.
The bench has asked the government to submit the report by 2:30 pm in the post-lunch session. The court also asked the advocate to remain present in the afternoon.
