The Bhoomi-Bank Integration Scheme, designed to simplify the process of giving loans for farmers, will cover the entire State before the end of May.
Speaking at the 121st meeting of the State-level Bankers’ Committee, Karnataka, SLBC Chairperson M G Sanghvi said the scheme was currently being implemented in four districts - Tumkur, Kolar, Mandya and Mysore.
Bhoomi is a flagship project of the State government, aimed at improving computerised maintenance, online delivery and management of land records. Under the old system, farmers had to file loan applications at the banks and at revenue offices. Under the new system, Bhoomi records are integrated with bank computers, simplifying the application process.
Sanghvi, who is also the Chairman and Managing Director of Syndicate Bank, said the State government has issued a gazette notice authorising banks to download the records from the Bhoomi website. “The banks have already obtained the required I-keys for authentication and necessary infrastructure is in place for the branches in the four districts for implementation of Bhoomi-Bank integration without any scope for manual entries,” Sanghvi said.
In addition, all banks have been informed of the scheme’s Statewide expansion to take effect by May 31, he said.
He urged banks to accelerate credit flow to self-help groups, housing, education, minority community, micro and small enterprise segments, which have been identified as thrust areas.
