He was speaking at a programme organised to provide bicycles to VIII standard students at Government Composite PU College, Mandikal village on Wednesday.
This has helped students to save their time, which otherwise would go waste in reaching schools in far away places. He urged students to invest this time in reading and plan their career carefully.
No restrictions
Zilla Panchayat member A D Avulappa observed that the educational programmes implemented by the government should not be restricted to only a few schools.
Teachers play a vital role in taking such programmes to student community, he emphasised.
Considering complaints about misuse of bicycles by parents of beneficiary-students, taluk panchayat president Nalina Gowda urged parents not to deny their students’ right of education.
KMF director K V Nagaraj, taluk panchayat vice-president Gangadharappa, members K R Reddy and Venkatesh were present.
