Basavakalyan: In a major haul, Bidar police on Saturday seized 660 kg of ganja worth over 6.6 crore near Rajeshwar in Basavakalyan taluk of the district. Two people, including one from the district, have been arrested.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a Tata Bolero vehicle on the national highway near Rajeshwar and seized 6.6 quintals of ganja worth Rs 6.6 crore and the vehicle. The contraband was being transported to Maharashtra from Odisha and Visakhapatnam.

The police have arrested Sanjeev of Bidar and another person. The Basavakalyan police have registered a case and investigation is on.

In July 2024, the district police had seized 305 kg of ganja worth Rs 3 crore at Bhangur check-post on the Telangana border. The ganja was being transported to Maharashtra from Odisha. The Mannalli police had arrested four men from Malkangiri in Odisha.
