New Delhi: The BJP central leadership on Monday served a fresh show cause notice to dissident MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and asked him to respond within 72 hours over alleged anti-party activities.

The notice comes amid a factional fight in the Karnataka BJP where a group of leaders led by Yatnal has been demanding the removal of state BJP president B Y Vijayendra.

This is the second notice issued to Yatnal in the past three months.

"The party has taken note of your continuing tirade and breach of party discipline, in clear contravention of the discipline code as enshrined in the Bharatiya Janata Party constitution and rules thereunder," said the notice sent by Om Pathak, Member Secretary, Central Disciplinary Committee.

"Despite your assurances of good behavior and conduct in response to earlier show cause notices, you continue to violate and flout your own assurances," the notice said.

“Please show cause as to why the party should not take disciplinary action against you. Your explanation should reach the undersigned within 72 hours from the receipt of this notice,” he said.

“Please note that in the event of non receipt of your explanation within the time stipulated herein, the Central Disciplinary Committee may assume that you have nothing to say and it may proceed to take a final view in the matter,” the notice said.

Yatnal was also served a show-cause notice in December last year for his alleged anti-party stand where he was attacking former Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and his son Vijayendra alleging both were hand in glove with the Congress leaders in state.

Yatnal along with other rebel leaders including Arvind Limbavali, Kumar Bangarappa and MLA B P Harish were in the national capital on Monday and attended the house-warming ceremony of Minister of State for Railways V Somanna. However, there was no political discussion held during the event.

Earlier in the day, Yatnal told reporters here that they have already communicated their grievances against Yediyurappa and Vijayendra to the party high command. Insisting that the party high command is unlikely to continue Vijayendra as the state president, he said he will abide by the party high command's decision on a new state unit president.

Will expose Vijayendra: Yatnal

Yatnal on Monday said he would give a detailed reply to the show cause notice of the party central leadership and expose state unit president B Y Vijayendra.

“There is media news that Yatnal has received a notice from the Bharatiya Janata Party's Central Disciplinary Committee. However, I have not received notice till now. Once I receive the notice, I will give a detailed written reply regarding the monopoly of a few individuals in the party, ignoring North Karnataka and family politics in the state party unit,” Yatnal posted on X.

Yatnal also said he would explain about state president B Y Vijayendra's "nepotism, compromised politics and his failure to take decision against the Congress-ruled government in Karnataka."
