BJP chief Amit Shah on Wednesday commenced the process of reviewing the micromanagement of poll strategy he had put in place in the state by holding meetings with Shakthi Kendra Pramukhs and regional in-charges.
Shah firmly believes that the BJP’s success in forming governments in 20 states goes to booth workers and Shakthi Kendra Pramukhs, and hopes to recreate that strategy in Karnataka.
In the morning, Shah addressed a convention of pramukhs of Bengaluru (each in-charge of five polling booths), exhorting them to work towards ensuring party victory in all 28 constituencies in the state capital.
He sought constituency-wise progress reports on the 19 tasks he had assigned the state unit in January this year. Shah, as part of his micro-management plan, had set up the tasks of setting up booth committees, compiling of booth-wise past election statistics, list of key voters, list of bikers for rallies, list of smartphone users for WhatsApp outreach etc.
He had also sought categorisation of booths as A, B and C — ‘A’ would comprise booths where the party hopes to get over 60% of votes, ‘B’ where it considers 30-40% of the votes assured, and ‘C’, where the prospects are lower.
Later, he held a review meeting with regional in-charges personally handpicked by him. This team of 11, most of them from outside Karnataka, visited various parts of the state for a grassroots assessment of the poll-preparedness of the Karnataka unit of the party.
Sources said the 11 in-charges — including party functionaries Swatantra Dev Singh, Bhupender Yadav, Mangal Pandey, Satish Upadhyay, Om Prakash Mathur — submitted reports on the party’s poll campaigns, functioning of various morchas, organisational machinery, among others. Shah will continue his review meetings on Thursday.
