Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, BJP Urban District Unit president H S Sachidananda Murthy accused Corporator B Rajanna of storing 364 rice bags in his ward office. Murthy alleged the rice bags were meant to be distributed among people from rural areas who participated in the Congress rally held on Monday.

He said the State Election Commission had been requested  to seize the rice bags and to close down the ward office. He alleged that BBMP officers were hand in glove with the corporator.

Dismissing Murthy’s charges Rajanna said the bags were stored in his personal office.

"The rice bags were to be distributed as part of the birthday celebrations of our leader S D Somashekar. The BBMP neither has a ward office nor does it pay the rent of my office,” Rajanna said.
