Bengaluru: BJP MLC C T Ravi on Thursday appeared before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to record his statement related to an alleged attack on him in the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi.
“I was here to record my statement on the attack against me on December 19,” Ravi told media persons after he left the CID office in Bengaluru.
Ravi was allegedly attacked in the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha premises after he allegedly made derogatory remarks against Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar.
“My statement has been recorded and I have shared the details on those who assaulted me, raised slogans and hurled expletives. The first attack occurred around 3 pm, following lunch near the portico at the west entrance and the second attack at around 4.15 pm inside the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha. We suspect there were 25 to 30 attackers, including the PA of Laxmi Hebbalkar,” Ravi said.
The CID is also investigating a case related to Ravi making the derogatory remarks, which led to the alleged attack. However, on Thursday, Ravi wasn’t questioned regarding the case.
Ravi was arrested by the police on December 19 and on December 20, the Karnataka High Court ordered his release. “I will attend when required and extend my cooperation to the probe,” Ravi said. Sources in the CID said that Ravi was deposed before a DySP-ranked officer.
