New Delhi: Dakshina Kannada BJP MP Brijesh Chowta on Friday sought the intervention of Union Ministry of Civil Aviation for the speedy acquisition of land for expansion of Mangalore Airport.

The Mangalore Airport, which is operated by a private company, sought additional land for its expansion of run and other facilities. Though the State Government had agreed to give land and written to the Airport Authority of India (AAI), the things have not moved forward. There is an urgent need to speed up the process,” he said during the Zero Hour in Lok Sabha.

The AAI has to issue directions to the state government as well as the private operator to acquire land for expansion, he said.

Alleging that the bureaucratic delay is hampering the expansion of the airport, he said, “Civil Aviation Ministry should intervene and facilitate a dialogue between all stakeholders to address the issue.”
