In a bid to promote constitutional awareness and pay tribute to architect of the Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar, the BJP on Thursday announced the production of a documentary-drama series that aims to educate citizens on the values and rights enshrined in the Constitution.

The announcement was made by BJP SC morcha president and MLA Cement Manjunath during the launch of the campaign’s title song under the banner ‘Mane-Manakke Samvidhana – Har Ghar Samvidhan’ – jointly organised by the BJP’s SC and ST morchas at the BJP state headquarters here.

Manjunath said, “Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s Constitution has given us many rights. It is now our duty to help every household understand what the Constitution truly means and what it has granted to us. That’s why we decided to produce a documentary-drama series”.

Leader of the Opposition in Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy  outlined the BJP’s record in respecting the Constitution and honouring Dr Ambedkar.

He said the party had taken steps like building memorials at locations significant to Ambedkar’s life.

“The BJP has built international memorials at Dr Ambedkar’s birth and death places. It has never insulted the Constitution in any way,” he said.

Lashing out at the Congress by recalling the Emergency of 1975, Narayanaswamy accused it of “killing the Constitution” under former prime minister Indira Gandhi.

“Today, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is going around holding the Constitution. Why? Because it is the same Constitution that Indira Gandhi once murdered,” he said.

BJP state vice president N Mahesh also spoke at the event, urging the people to treat the Constitution as a foundational guide for national life — much like religious scriptures.

“The Constitution governs every Indian’s life. If we fail to spread its ideals to every home, someone may try to bring harm to it,” he warned.
