Bengaluru: Marking half a century since the Emergency was declared in 1975, the state BJP on Thursday unveiled a comprehensive statewide awareness drive aimed at highlighting what it termed an “assault on constitutional democracy” under Congress rule during that time.

The week-long campaign, scheduled from June 22 to 30, will feature exhibitions, public forums, panel discussions, and interactive sessions—each designed to spotlight instances of “political repression, suppression of press freedom, and violation of civil liberties”.  Speaking at a press briefing held at Jagannath Bhavan here, the party’s state headquarters, BJP MLC and former national general secretary C T Ravi announced that the main event would take place on June 24 at Town Hall (4.30 pm) in Bengaluru.
