BJP president Amit Shah, on Saturday, visited the holy shrine of Kudalasangama.

Surprisingly, he had 'darshan' of the Aikyamantap of Basavanna only from a distance. The fact that he did not go down the stairs to the shrine upset the devotees.

The BJP president arrived here in a helicopter at around 10.05 am and had darshan of Sangamanath. It is said there were not many BJP leaders to guide him around the place as he arrived ahead of schedule. Only former minister Laxman Savadi and a few local leaders were present.

His decision not to visit prominent Lingayat institutions in and around Kudalasangama has raised eyebrows. It is said he may have skipped these places as he is apprehensive that the seers in favour of a separate Lingayat faith may submit memos to him with regard to the issue.

At a rally at Ilkal in the same district, the BJP chief accused the Congress of hatching a conspiracy to dislodge Yeddyurappa from power, when he was heading a coalition government with the JD(S).

He appealed to the electorate to bring Yeddyurappa to power for a full five-year term in this election.

Describing the Siddaramaiah government as anti-farmer, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi would ensure that farmers get one and a half times the price of their produce.
