Bengaluru: Dubbing US president Donald Trump’s claims on halting the India-Pakistan conflict as ‘childish,’ BJP national general secretary Dr Radha Mohan Das Agrawal on Thursday likened Trump’s behaviour to “children at railway stations who push a moving train and then claim credit for its motion.”
On the sidelines of BJP’s apolitical tiranga yatra, Agarwal asserted: ceasefire was declared only after Pakistan’s director general of military operations (DGMO) made repeated calls to India’s DGMO, pleading for de-escalation.
“PM Modi revealed this in his address. There was no role for foreign mediation,” he said.
Agarwal said, “Some international figures have a habit of claiming every global success as their own. India’s strength and sovereignty do not need validation from anyone.”
Criticising Madhya Pradesh minister Vijay Shah’s comments on Col Sofia Qureshi as ‘unforgivable,’ Agarwal said he had already apologised twice and that the BJP had not yet pardoned him.
He said, “If resignations/expulsions were to be demanded based solely on controversial statements following the anti-terror operations, almost every Congress leader except former union ministers P Chidambaram and Shashi Tharoor has to step down. Rahul Gandhi should have resigned long ago.”
Training his guns on CM Siddaramaiah, the BJP leader said the latter was always busy making ‘anti-Hindu and anti-national statements’ and giving effect to such policies.
However, he lavished praise on deputy CM D K Shivakumar for standing with the armed forces, even if it meant deviating from the CM’s line.
He asserted that Operation Sindoor marked a new era in warfare, showcasing India’s capability to respond to terrorism with calculated precision and ethical restraint.
Agarwal said, “Despite suffering a terror attack, India responded with maturity. We did not cross the Line of Control (LoC), yet we managed to destroy 11 terrorist hideouts and strike 11 Pakistani airbases involved in launching drones and missiles.”
He said, “Russia intercepts 80% of incoming threats, Israel 95%, but India has demonstrated 100% interception success. We’ve revolutionised modern warfare — we changed the very nature of conflict.”
Gandhi’s non-violence
“This operation embodied Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of non-violence, even during war. Such a morally guided military response has no precedent in modern warfare,” he declared.
