Managluru: The Karnataka BJP will pay a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the family of Hindu activist Suhas Shetty, who was hacked to death on Thursday night.
State BJP president B Y Vijayendra and Leader of Opposition in Assembly R Ashoka visited the house of Shetty and consoled the family members at Pulimajalu village near Karinja in Bantwal on Friday.
“As Suhas was the breadwinner of the family, the BJP has decided to pay a compensation of Rs 25 lakh to his kin. I urge the state government to take the incident seriously and pay compensation to the family of the deceased,” Vijayendra told reporters.
He said that Hindu workers were being killed in the state at regular intervals and the state government should take necessary steps to facilitate NIA probe into Shetty’s murder.
“Whenever Hindu activists are murdered, Congress government in state never stands with the victim’s family,” he alleged.
Leader of Opposition R Ashoka said that murder of Hindu workers is a guarantee bestowed whenever Siddaramaiah comes to power in state.
“During his previous term as CM, 36 Hindu activists were murdered by PFI, KFD and other organisations. We are not confident of getting justice from Karnataka police. Therefore, we have demanded NIA probe into the murder,” he said.
