Mangaluru: The BJP will hold a protest in front of all the gram panchayats and ULBs in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on June 23, raising five issues including the row over Form 9 and 11, said DK MP and State BJP Secretary Capt Brijesh Chowta.
Owing to the row over Form 9 and 11, people are unable to construct houses and are made to run from pillar to post. The process should be simplified for obtaining building plan maps, he told mediapersons.
Further, he alleged that the applications of those who had applied for regularisation of land under Akrama-Sakrama were rejected without bringing it to the notice of the Akrama-Sakrama Samithi headed by MLAs and the applicant. The kumki or bagair hukum land in the region is protected by the farmers. The unilateral decision of the officials to reject the applications is anti-farmer in nature. If the farmers had not protected these kumki lands, they would have fallen into the hands of the land mafia. The Akrama-Sakrama applications should be reviewed properly, he demanded.
Further, the MP alleged that the Congress-led state government has failed to sanction Ashraya houses for the poor and shelterless over the past two years. During the BJP tenure, 50 to 100 houses were sanctioned for each gram panchayat. “We urge the government to sanction a minimum of 100 houses for every gram panchayat,” he said.
Several beneficiaries of old age pension and Sandhya Suraksha schemes are being denied the pension in the name of income limits. The government is trying to undermine social security benefits in the state. To cover up its administrative failure and match the revenue leakage, the government is denying social security benefits to the people, he alleged.
The MP also alleged that the state government has failed to release relief for the rain victims. “We will raise the issue during the progress review meeting to be chaired by District In-Charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao in the coming days.”
The protest will be held in front of 223 gram panchayats, one city corporation, eight town panchayats, three Town Municipal Councils, and two City Municipal Councils. All the BJP leaders, elected representatives, and members of the general public will take part.
