Shivamogga: An investigation has been ordered under the leadership of a retired judge to get a clean chit for the state government in the stampede case at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, BJP state unit president B Y Vijayendra said.
If the government has any shame, an investigation committee should be formed under the leadership of a sitting judge, he added.
Addressing mediapersons here on Tuesday, he said the chief minister, deputy chief minister and home minister are accused A1, A2 and A3 in the stampede incident. However, the police officers were made scapegoats to cover up the lapses, he charged.
He further said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar were competing to increase their political strength by using the popularity of RCB's victory in IPL 2025.
That is why one person shared the event at the Vidhana Soudha premises and the victory celebration at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, he said. For the same reason, the Chief Minister is saying, 'I am not responsible for the tragedy that took place outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium' Vijayendra added.
Vijayendra said: "I do not know how the Congress high command has considered the death of 11 innocent people in the stampede. If the high command of that party was strong, it should have understood the anger of the people of the state and obtained the resignation of the CM, DCM and Home Minister by now. But the strong people have hoisted the flag in power in the state. Therefore, he expressed his anger that the government is behaving like a mad horse."
June 4 is the darkest day in the history of the state, he said. The CM, DCM and Home Minister should take moral responsibility for that tragedy and resign from their posts, Vijayendra believes. He also displayed a letter and said that he has written to the government on the issue.
He said If the demand for resignation is met, it will be fine. Otherwise, a massive protest will be staged by the BJP at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on June 13 to topple the government. He said that the CM's house will also be picketed on that day.
Vijayendra said that the BJP will hold protests in all the taluk centres of the state on June 16.
BJP district unit president N K Jagadish, MLA S N Channabasappa, and Legislative Council members D S Arun and Dr Dhananjaya Sarji were present at the press conference.
