A BJP worker was shot dead by a Gram Panchayat member in Madikeri on Monday night.
The deceased BJP worker was identified as Tilak Raj (40). JD(S) worker M Nanda who reportedly fired at Tilak Raj was absconding, police sources said and attributed the firing to political vendetta.
A case was registered at a rural police station.
