In a letter to the president of the NCW, the morcha’s Karnataka president C Manjula, claimed that there had been a “rapid increase” in the number of rape and murder cases, maternal deaths and POCSO cases across the state since the Congress came to power.

Pointing out that it was a pressing issue across the state, Manjula accused the state government of neglecting it.

‘Depts ignorant’

“The Women and Child Development and Home departments are completely ignorant and have proven their incapability to
safeguard women,” she added.

The letter cited 18 incidents, including a claim that the Shakti scheme of the Congress – one of its five guarantees – was a “complete failure.”
