Blame game over illegal mining

Siddaramaiah said the government had failed to stop illegal mining. “You (Yeddyurappa) are unfit to continue in office,” he said. Enraged, the Treasury bench members came in support of the Chief Minister and demanded that Siddaramaiah tender an apology. At one stage even Yeddyurappa said Siddaramaiah was unfit to be the Opposition leader.

Siddaramaiah, unperturbed by the counter-atttacks, said he had not uttered any unparliamentary words but only stated what has been stated in the Lokayukta report.
Yeddyurappa said even in 2004, when Siddaramaiah was the deputy chief minister, illegal mining had taken place.

Minister Janardhana Reddy surprised the House by defending the Chief Minister.
