He expressed the need for providing attractive incentives to speech language pathologists and audiologists, so that the ‘pull factor’ would ensure them to remain in the country.
He was speaking at the inauguration of New Men’s Hostel ‘Bodhi’ at the AIISH Panchavati campus in the city on Friday.

Dr Reddy said that communication disorders are normally neglected and Outreach Service Centres are really important to cater to various parts of state as each person will not be able to visit AIISH for treatment. Dr Reddy said that outreach programmes are being held in 14 districts by the State Health Department and AIISH to reach out to people with speech and hearing loss.

The men’s hostel built at a cost of Rs three crore includes a recreation hall and dining hall for the inmates. It will accommodate 97 students. The construction of the building is ‘barrier free’ keeping in mind the needs of the specially abled.

Documentary film ‘Outreach Service Centres of POCD Department’ was released by Dr Reddy. A book and CD entitled, “Train your child - Level I” was released by former Director of AIISH, Dr N Rathna.
