Three weeks after City boy Souvik Pal went missing in Manchester, the UK police have reportedly recovered a body from an Old Trafford canal on Tuesday.
The BBC reported that the authorities are yet to ascertain the identity of the body.
Souvik’s father Shantanu, who has been in Manchester since January 5 in pursuit of his son, told Deccan Herald over phone that he did not wish to comment, but confirmed that a body was recovered. “I hope it is not of my son,” he said.
Souvik’s family in the City is oscillating between hope and despair as the canal whe-re the body was found was near the place whe-re Souvik was last spotted. “Police had conducted extensive search of nearby water bodies but in vain. The body found today could be of somebody else. We hope for the best,” a family friend said.
Souvik, 19, a student at the Manchester Metropolitan University, went missing from a night club on New Year’s Eve.
