New Delhi: Haveri BJP Lok Sabha member and former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Wednesday met Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari here and urged him to take up the upgradation of Karwar–Ilkal National Highway.
Bommai in his memorandum submitted to the minister said that 318 km road—starting from Karwar and passing through Kaiga, Mundgod, Savanur, Gadag, and Gajendragad to reach Ilkal—has already received in-principle approval for upgradation as National Highway.
Since the road is in poor condition, Bommai requested the Union Minister to start upgrading work immediately.
Bommai also requested the minister to take up works of the highways passing through Haveri Lok Sabha segment under Calamity Relief Fund (CRF) as many roads were in poor condition.
Chitradurga BJP Lok Sabha member Govind Karjol also met Gadkari and requested him to take up several works including improvement of 5.75 km of road passing in Sira town of NH-4, improvement of road passing in Challakere town of NH-150A, construction of bypasses at Sira, Molakalmuru.
Shivamogga BJP Lok Sabha member B Y Raghavendra met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and urged her to expedite the release of remaining NABARD subsidy for agri-processing units that has already received 50% disbursal.
The MP also requested the minister to sanction posts and allocate funds for CGHS Wellness Centres approved in Shivamogga, Mangaluru & Udupi. Quick action will enable the Health Ministry to operationalise these much-needed facilities without further delay, he said.
He also requested the minister to sanction funds to Kollur Mookambika temple under PRASAD (Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive) scheme to improve infrastructure.
