The deceased has been identified as Veeresh Shankarayya Hiremath (12). Mustafa Tahshildar (30) has sustained injuries.
The incident occurred as a mad rush ensued to pull the chariot during Basavanna Rathotsva held on the last Monday of ‘Shravana Masa,’ and the victims came under the wheels in the melee.
The boy succumbed to injuries when he was being rushed to the district hospital.
