'Boycotting House is act of cowardice'

The JD(S) at its legislature party meeting on Monday had resolved to keep off the proceedings of the forthcoming extended budget session as the BJP government had not yielded to its demand seeking Speaker K G Bopaiah’s resignation.

Ridiculing the regional party, Manjunath said it was in fact the JD(S) which had misused the office of the Speaker.

“Former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy and his father H D Deve Gowda were instrumental in influencing the then Speaker Krishna to go slow on a petition seeking disqualification of a section of JD (S) MLAs in 2006,” alleged Manjunath.

He wondered why Krishna had not sought disqualification of 36 MLAs who had formed a coalition with the BJP.

“The Opposition members are not coming to the Assembly, but only making allegations of corruption outside the legislature. To boycott the House is an act of cowardice,” he said.
