Aspirant of presidential polls for Akhila Karnataka Brahmana Mahasabha R Lakshmikanth said election would be held on June 17 for Mysore region.

Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, he said election for Mysore region comprising of Mandya, Kodagu, Chamarajanagar and Mysore would be held in city at Mahila Samaja, Krishnamurthypuram from 9 am to 2 pm.

Simultaneously polls would be conducted at Shimoga at Brahmana Seva Sangha on Kote road.
Lakshmikanth said the election is being conducted due to the demise of president C V L Shastry recently.

The mahasabha is conducting various programmes to aid the needy students and senior citizens.
Matrimonial services which are organised in all district centres are successful in creating harmony within the community.

“It is also weeding out the internal conflicts within the Brahmin community,” he added.
Lakshmikanth who is presently the general secretary of mahasabha said among more than 30 lakh belonging to the caste, 27,500 are members of the mahasabha. Mysore region has 2,300 voters out of which Mysore has 1,500.

He said elections for Bangalore would be held on June 24 at H N Kalakshetra in Jayanagar.
S Ramanath, S Nagaraj, K Raghuram, Harish, Venkatasubbaiah and Lata Mohan were present.
