A septuagenarian woman who had gone missing for almost two years, was united with her family by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel of Assam, with due help from social media.

Jayamma, 70, a resident of Mandiganahalli had gone missing in December 2016. Jayamma’s daughter Sunanda made several efforts to trace her missing mother, but in vain.

On October 18, 2018, BSF soldiers found Jayamma in an isolated place in Karimganj district, in Assam. Upon enquiry, they realised that she was from Hassan district. A BSF constable from Karnataka, who was on duty, took the video of Jayamma and posted it on social media. Santhosh, a resident of Mandiganahalli, who watched the video clipping, immediately informed Sunanda about the whereabouts of her mother in Assam.

Sunanda, who reached Karimganj on Monday, brought her mother back to Hassan after thanking the BSF personnel.

However, the reason why Jayamma went missing is yet to be ascertained.
