A section of erstwhile followers of B S Yeddyurappa, who have fallen out with the former chief minister, are likely to join the Congress ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The followers, led by MLC M D Lakshminarayana, will meet in Bangalore on Sunday to take a final decision on their next move. The meeting will also be attended by former legislators - H D Basavaraj of Virajpet, Ningappa of Tumkur Rural, Balraj of Kollegal, B P Harish of Harihar and others. These former legislators had joined the KJP when Yeddyurappa had launched the regional party.

They are cut up with Yeddyurappa and are blaming the former chief minister for not ensuring their entry into the BJP. Lakshminarayana, who is also the president of the State unit of the Weavers’ Federation, has invited representatives of all 30 district units of the Federation to Sunday’s meeting.

Former union minister V Dhananjay Kumar, who has been offered the JD(S) ticket to contest from the Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency after being denied re-entry into the BJP, said he will tour the constituency for the next two days before officially accepting the offer.
