The District Principal District and Sessions Court on Monday rejected the bail petitions of Gangappa Shintri, main accused in the building collapse disaster at Kumareshwar Nagar and his partner Basavaraj Nigadi who is also an accused in the incident.

The advocate, representing the accused, pleaded that the Shintri and Nigadi have health problems and they need continuous supervision by the medical team. Both will abide by the conditions put by the court and will cooperate with the investigating team. The building collapse is an accident and the building has not been built to cause harm to anybody. The builders have taken all precautions, but they did not have any role in the disaster. Hence, the court should grant them bail, the advocate pleaded.

The advocate of the complainants told the court that the accused are influential persons and they may intimidate the witnesses and appealed the court to reject their bail petition.
