Hindu activists had urged shopkeepers to shut down their establishments in protest over the murder of Suhas Shetty.

The majority of the shops have remained closed. After four KSRTC buses were pelted with stones by the miscreants early morning, KSRTC has suspended its services.

KSRTC Mangaluru division controller Rajesh Shetty said four buses were pelted stones at Pumpwell. None of the passengers have been injured. Window panes were damaged. Hence, bus services have been suspended, he added.

DK Private bus operators’ association president Azees Parthipady said a few of the private buses have been pelted with stones by miscreants. “Buses have been stopped on the routes where services were disrupted by miscreants,” he said. Buses arriving from Karkala and Udupi were pelted with stones. Some of the autos and private vehicles are operating in the city.

Meanwhile, II PU-2 mathematics exam is scheduled on Friday. Students who had registered for the exam were inconvenienced.
