Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has said that the byelections in the state were not a battle against any individual but a test for the Congress-JD(S) alliance.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, the chief minister said that the bypolls would lay a foundation for “permanent alliance” between the two parties.

“The results of byelection will prove that it is an alliance of development. We are confident of winning 25 to 26 seats in the Lok Sabha polls next year.”

Kumaraswamy claimed that the state government was transparent in implementing loan waiver scheme. The process would have been set in motion if some people had not disrupted it, he added.

JD(S)-Congress nominee Madhu Bangarappa filed nomination papers on Tuesday. He was accompanied by Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, former minister Kagodu
Thimmappa and MLA B K Sangamesh.
