Centre may bring law on tobacco use

According to Medical Education minister S A Ramadas, the Central government was considering serious measures to prevent youth and children from getting access to tobacco products.

Ramadas said the Centre had also thought of a programme which would bring down the neonatal mortality rate (number of children dying under 28 days of age) and obstetrical deaths (death of women during pregnancy). This programme intends improve the health of both the mother and child, he said.
