A youth, who made a bid to impersonate a candidate appearing for the government conducted Common Entrance Test (CET) for professional courses in the City, on Tuesday, was caught redhanded and handed over to the police.
Bhuvaneshwar from Delhi had appeared for the exams on behalf of Syed Aqsa K S from K R Nagar in Mysuru district, for biology paper in the morning session at St Philomena’s College, on Mysuru-Bengaluru road.
As is the procedure, the invigilator collected the signatures of the candidates after verifying their admission tickets. It was then, the invigilator was sceptical about the candidate in place, as the photo printed on the document had been rubbed a bit only to mislead others. The invigilator informed the higher ups, who swung into action and informed the jurisdictional NR Police Station.
The police, who took him to custody, doubt the role of a racket behind the incident. During the preliminary investigation, it emerged that Bhuvaneshwar landed in Mysuru on Monday and was staying at a lodge.
The investigators are also tracing the whereabouts of the candidate and others.
A case has been registered.
