A priest of Chamundeshwari Devi temple, atop the Chamundi Hill, has been suspended for allegedly receiving offerings from the devotees bypassing the offerings box (hundi).
Deputy Commissioner DRandeep has suspended NSrinivasan. According to the order, Srinivasan used to place a plate on the main hundi, forcing the devotees to offer money. His actions have been recorded on CCTVcameras. During his absence, Srinivasan used to depute his aides to collect the money.
The order states that the act affected the dignity of the temple.
