Raichur: A civil defence mock drill was conducted at Raichur Power Generation Station (RTPS) in Shakti Nagar on Friday to strengthen the efficiency of armed forces in the times of war and emergency.
During the mock drill, the general public informed the police control room soon after mock bombs were detonated in three places at 4 pm. The rescue teams rushed to the spot and shifted the seriously injured to Shakti Nagar Primary Health Centre and Raichur Institute of Medical Sciences.
The bomb disposal squad and dog squad also rushed to the spot while the fire brigade personnel showed their preparedness by extinguishing the fire. A red cordon was put around the bomb site and the public was restricted from entering inside.
The awareness was created about the precautions to be taken against the strategy of targeting Yermarus Thermal Power Station (YTPS), Raichur Thermal Power Station (RTPS) and chemical factories in Raichur. Security forces and police department officials were asked to be vigilant at their locations.
Personnel from the Civil Police, Home Guard, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), National Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were involved in the mock drill.
The Deputy Commissioner Nitish K, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rahul Pandve, Additional DC Shivanand Bhajantri, Assistant Commissioner Gajanan Bale, MLA Basanagouda Daddal were present.
