Police said differences between the two groups about offering prayers and their styles of living led to the fight. In the melee, Ashfaq Hasanwale (27), a resident of Hirebagewadi, was assaulted with a sickle and died on the spot.
Two others sustained injuries. Police personnel acted swiftly and brought the situation under control and detained 10 persons.
