New Delhi: Congress high command decided to steer clear of the power-sharing tussle in Karnataka, with top leader Rahul Gandhi not meeting any of the state leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakumar, who have been camping in the national capital.

A meeting with the two at this juncture could have only fuelled speculations on leadership change in the state and triggered more confusion within the rank and file.

Both the CM and DCM on Wednesday separately said they have sought an appointment with Rahul. However, the CM on Thursday said, “Sought an appointment to meet Rahul Gandhi. So far, no information.”

Sources in Congress said neither Rahul nor Khargehad summoned both CM and DCM. Both of them came on official work and sought an appointment to meet leaders. Since media is running stories about leadership change, Rahul meeting any of these leaders would further fuel speculation, sources said.

Both leaders would leave for Bengaluru on Friday morning.

Both the CM and DCM met Congress general secretary (incharge Karnataka) Randeep Surjewala to finalise the list of second round appointments for boards and corporation.

The leaders decided to appoint loyal party workers for these posts.
