Shivamogga: Karnataka Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa on Monday said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah may launch the Karnataka Public School (KPS) project in Shivamogga either in February or March.
Shivamogga district in-charge minister Madhu, interacting with journalists after participating in the Republic Day celebrations, said that the government had initially approved the establishment of 500 KPS institutions – schools wherein LKG to second PU classes will be integrated under one roof.
“However, the government has now given its nod for setting up 900 KPS schools at an estimated cost of Rs 3,500 crore. Our aim is to set up many of these schools in Kalyana Karnataka region. Students at these schools will be provided textbooks and notebooks free of cost,” said Madhu.
