CM praises KPCL for highest turnover

 Speaking at the 39th annual general meeting of the KPCL on Saturday, the CM said it had achieved the turnover of Rs 4, 148 crore.
“The operating profit before tax was Rs 392 crore, which has been the highest in the history of the Corporation,” he said.

The KPCL has been entrusted with the responsibility of developing additional 6,000 MW capacity during the next five years to ensure energy security and to combat the severe power shortage in the State, he said.

KPCL Managing Director Dr Jamdar said that the government accepted the proposal for a gas-based power plant of 2,100 MW in the first phase at Tadadi along with a dedicated LNG terminal for supply of gas. The important projects by the Corporation are gas-based power plants at Tadadi and the hydel project at Shivanasamudram which have an outlay of Rs 37,000 crore.

They will be implemented over a four-year period, he added.
