The session, which would be convened in the third week of September, would discuss scams for two days and agriculture and rural development for the remaining three days.
The chief minister’s announcement, which came in the legislature as a response to JD (S) leader H D Revanna’s comments that the government is rushing through proceedings in the house fearful that the opposition would produce more of its irregularities, stunned the opposition to silence.

In the last two weeks, the government has been facing up to exposure by the Congress and the JD(S) of issues which they dubbed “irregularities and scams”. In half-a-dozen of the issues, their attempts to move adjournment against the ruling BJP was in vain.

“Let it be on any issue pertaining to the present government,” Yeddyurappa declared. “There is an impression that the present government is indulging in day light looting. Let there be a debate on scams including land scams of Bangalore. Let us also discuss the Lokayukta”. The treasury benches greeted the chief minister’s announcement by thumping the desks.
