Bengaluru: CM Siddaramaiah on Monday chaired a meeting on the appointment of the chief commissioner and seven commissioners to the Information Commission.
The posts are vacant now. Of the 500 applications, the committee shortlisted 15, but left the final decision on appointments to the CM.
Sources said several journalists had applied for this time. While 4 journalists are said to have been chosen, experts from other fields have reportedly been considered for the remaining four positions. A notification will be out in a couple of days, sources said. Taking exception to ‘partisan’ selection, some candidates have lodged complaints.
“According to rules, those well placed in society and are well-versed in law, science and technology, social service, management, journalism, mass communication or management and administration can be nominated. However, there has been partisanship this time,” they said.
